Marcus Antonsson’s move from Leeds United to Malmo at the weekend has been labelled as the ‘best transfer deal of the summer’ at a Swedish club.

The 28 year old ended his two year spell with Leeds United after signing a three deal with the Swedish champions.

Fotboll Direkt have complied a top ten of the best transfers in the Swedish league this summer and the former Leeds United player has come 1st ahead of Sebastian Larsson. The former Hull City midfielder last month signed for AIK.

“The way Uwe Rösler seems to want to play, with regeneration and everything, I think Antonsson is a perfect acquisition. He actually reminds of how Rösler was like a player himself, a striker who runs and works. He’s certainly not got worse during those years in England,“ said Fotboll Direkt’s Magnus Österberg.

Antonsson signed for Leeds United in 2016 from Kalmar but failed to make an impression in his debut season in England.

Last season the Swede was sent out on loan to Blackburn Rovers, but after returning to Elland Road this summer it always seemed he was surplus to requirements.

The player is now in line to make his league debut for Malmo when they take on Örebro SK next weekend.
