Ibiza president Amadeo Salvo has revealed how ‘persistence’ and an effort from the player allowed Mateusz Bogusz to move from Leeds this summer.
The 21-year-old midfielder returned to the Spanish side on deadline day of the window when it was made clear he was not a part of Jesse Marsch’s plans this season.
It is his second straight loan spell with Ibiza, who he originally joined on loan in July last year, again for a season-long deal.
He made 22 appearances for the club last season and was a regular in the side up until the turn of the year, when a cruciate ligament injury ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
Up until that point he had been in impressive form, scoring four goals and assisting seven and enjoying both the regular playing time and development that Leeds would have hoped for.
They’re now hoping he can pick up where he left off this season, and Salvo says it was their persistence which made a deal with Leeds possible.
“His work was incomplete last season,” he told Diario de Ibiza.
“(He was) one of the revelations of the second division (but) he had the misfortune of injury. (We could not) replace him because of the level he had offered.
“This year we have tried and both the persistence of the club and the willingness of Bogusz to return to Ibiza, and the help of Leeds, has got him here.
“He is in the group dynamic, but we have to be patient with him.”
