Colombian side Envigado are set to pocket $5m from Watford thanks to Yaser Asprilla’s impending move to Girona.
That’s according to journalist Pipe Sierra, who reports that they are set get an extra boost on top of the $3.3m they already received from Watford.
He explains that part of the deal which took Asprilla to Watford in January 2022 included a 20% of any capital gains in future.
The midfielder is now on the verge of joining Girona in Spain, with the Spaniard’s set to pay €20m for 80% of the player’s rights.
Once the math is worked out, that will see Envigado pocket $5m from the deal, to add to the $3.3m they already received. That will further boost up Asprilla as their record sale, with him already topping that chart after his move two years ago.
Sierra also adds that the Watford man is already in Spain and on the way to undergo his medical examinations with his new club.
He accompanies his post with a video of Asprilla at a private airport posing in front of a small aircraft, presumably after landing in Spain at some point this afternoon.
There’s been several images and videos detailing his trip throughout today and this is the latest, but expect more as he edges closer to his departure from Watford.
