Fulham midfielder João Palhinha is today highlighted in the Portuguese media, with interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea mentioned.
Newspaper Record managed to have a quick word with him, with the player leaving a message for his former teammates at Sporting about the big Europa League clash they’re facing tonight.
The outlet then comes up to say that the 27-year-old, who was sold in a €20m deal last year, could still give the Lions some profit. The first reason is that the Lisbon side would make €1m in case the Whites avoid relegation to the Championship this season, and that’s practically guaranteed.
The other chunk of money Sporting may receive is in case Fulham sell Palhinha for more than they paid. And this scenario is said to be pretty much possible, because according to Record, the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all interested in him.
The report doesn’t give many details on a potential contact from those clubs for the signing, or even how much the Whites would demand to let the player go so soon.
Sporting are entitled to get 10% of the profit Fulham make with Palhinha’s sale. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €35m, and if he moves for that much, €1.5m would go to Lisbon.
