Wolverhampton Wanderers are working on a deal with Barcelona for Adama Traore to return to the club this month.

That’s according to both Sport and Mundo Deportivo, who say a loan deal with an option to buy is being negotiated, although a full transfer has not been ruled out.

Mundo state that Barcelona are ‘seriously working’ on bringing Traore back to the Nou Camp as they look to reinforce their forward line.

They have several options on the table at the moment, particularly as Ousmane Dembele looks likely to leave before the end of the window.

Traore is one of them, and as he is now represented by Jorge Mendes, the super-agent has been working to make it happen.

He also represents Ansu Fati and was at Ciutat Esportiva to discuss his situation on Monday, when he also talked about Traore.

According to them, Traore ‘would be delighted’ to return to Barcelona and is now trying to find the best formula to make it happen.

Sport back this up and state that Traore ‘said yes’ to a return to his former club in a meeting at the beginning of January and is ignoring all other interest for the time being. In fact, they say he would even reduce his wages to make it possible.

According to them, a deal is ‘completely set’ for the summer, but it could happen this month with a loan with an option to buy, which Wolves are ready to sanction for an agreed price

Both state that a loan deal with an option is more likely at this point, given the financial situation at the Nou Camp, but a transfer is not out of the question.

Sport say that Ousmane Dembele’s situation is key to the matter as should he stay, then Adama will not be making the move until the summer. If he leaves as they want him to, that will change things.

Mundo, meanwhile, say Trincao could be key to things. He’s on loan at Wolves, who want to sign him on a permanent basis.

They have an option to do so for €30m, but if they don’t activate that, they will have to pay Barcelona €6m instead.

He’s also represented by Mendes, so there is a feeling his relationship with both clubs could be key to working out a deal that suits all parties.
