Over the past couple of days there’s been a flurry of claims from Turkey about West Brom and Josef de Souza.
On Friday, Sport Witness covered claims from NtvSpor that West Brom had tabled a €10m offer for the midfielder, and were waiting for an answer. Fenerbahce certainly weren’t ruling out a sale, and pressure from West Brom wasn’t entirely unwelcome.
Then Haberturk claimed the actual offer amount from West Brom is €13m, and explained the Baggies would find out in the coming days whether their offer is successful or not.
Turkey’s Vatan newspaper sound rather more confident, explaining Fenerbahce would be ‘sending’ Souza to West Brom, because they want to bring in Luis Neto from Zenit St Petersburg.
Neto is a central defender so it’s not a straight one in and one out for Fenerbahce, but the West Brom transfer would provide the required funds.
Vatan put the offer at €10m, and certainly make it sound like that’s in the realms of acceptability.
West Brom wouldn’t have work permit problems with Souza, as he holds an EU passport.
