Barcelona could go shopping at Lyon in the winter transfer window, as long as Ronald Koeman’s side can raise the funds needed for signings.
Heavily linked with Memphis Depay during the last market, Barca weren’t able to pay what was required to sign the Dutchman. Despite that, Le10 Sport say the route remains open and the Catalan club may also swoop for Lyon’s Moussa Dembele.
That would leave the Ligue 1 side looking for replacements, and Islam Slimani is presented as an option. With a contract at Leicester City expiring at the end of June, Slimani has been linked with several clubs.
Given the striker is on relatively high wages at Leicester, it’s thought most Ligue 1 clubs, and that’s where the interest is coming from, would struggle to pay him enough.
Lyon’s situation may be a little different, especially if they see one or two of their own high earners go out of the exit door. With Slimani’s contract situation, the assumption is Lyon could get a good deal, and Le10 report the club are thinking about the move and could ‘seize the opportunity’.
As long as Brendan Rodgers doesn’t see Slimani as crucial for Leicester in the second half of this season, then it would provide a good chance to get a transfer fee, however reduced that may be.
