Everton star Richarlison is among the candidates to replace Luis Suarez at Atletico Madrid this summer.

That’s according to Sport, who say the Brazilian is ‘in the running’ as the Spanish side line up potential replacements for the Uruguayan.

Suarez is out of contract in the summer and, with a dwindling goal return, is expected to leave the Wanda Metropolitano for pastures new.

That will leave Diego Simeone needing to find a replacement, and there are ‘several strikers in the running’ to do so.

Richarlison is one of them, with it explained that the Brazilian could be a ‘great market opportunity’ if Everton were to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

The Blues are currently only one point above the relegation zone, so relegation cannot be ruled out at this moment in time, particularly after their performance in the 5-0 defeat to Tottenham.

Richarlison is extremely unlikely to remain at Goodison Park if that were to happen, and Atletico Madrid are keeping an eye on the situation.

He, like other players on their list, is someone who can play both upfront and as a second striker, while he has also often played on the wings during his time with Everton.

In other words, he is versatile, something Diego Simeone is known to value highly. The fact he is also a regular in Brazil’s squad is seen as another positive for him.

Now there’s no mention of an asking price from Everton or anything of that nature as yet, or even that Atletico have made tentative enquiries, just that Richarlison is one they are keeping an eye on.

It all seemingly depends on whether the Toffees can stay in the Premier League, with a fire sale expected if they can’t and Richarlison likely to be at the top of the list of departures.
