It seems Sporting CP are really thinking they can get Fabio da Silva from Middlesbrough on a free deal, or at least something close to it.
On Monday, it was Record who first reported the possibility, saying the Portuguese side would be hopeful the player can finish his contract with Middlesbrough and join the Lions as a free agent.
And A Bola pushes similar information today. They list all the right-backs the Portuguese club are considering before the end of the week, and say the most expensive of them would be Stefan Ristovski, who has a €3.5m price tag.
Sporting want to do the ‘best deal possible’, which in other words means they don’t want to spend much money. So it’s safe to say they won’t offer more than a couple of million in case they bid for the Brazilian.
Middlesbrough surely wouldn’t accept such a price, but it would be no surprise if Sporting were a temptation for Fabio himself, who has already been offered to Brazilian clubs this summer.
