Two days ago, Coluna do Fla and Surtados Raiz Futebol reported that Flamengo have set their sights on Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho ahead of the winter market.

It was also explained the Brazilian club’s idea is to take the attacking midfielder on a loan deal, while the Villans are considering selling him. This was the biggest obstacle for Flamengo to bring the 30-year-old to the club.

After this claim emerged, Jornal O Dia journalist Gabriel Orphão contacted Flamengo for an update on the possibility of them signing Unai Emery’s man.

Orphão took to Twitter to claim the South American side’s leaders have ‘ruled out hiring’ the former Liverpool star due to the differences in the transfer formula.

Flamengo showed ‘desire’ to sign the player, but only on a temporary deal. The Premier League side, for their part, remained firm with their stance and they will only accept to part ways with Coutinho through a permanent sale. Therefore, the former have ruled out signing him.

These two claims from Brazil indicate Aston Villa are willing to cash in on Coutinho’s sale, months after buying him from Barcelona in the summer window.

Coutinho has failed to score a goal or register an assist this season for Aston Villa.
