Besiktas have joined rivals Fenerbahçe in the race for Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke this summer.
That’s according to Fanatik, who say the striker is wanted by both clubs when his contract at Selhurst Park expires in the summer.
Benteke is out of contract in the summer and, despite improving his numbers this year, there is no sign of him extending his stay with the Eagles.
That has sparked rumours about his future, with a report last week stating that Galatasaray president Mustafa Cengiz was eyeing up the Belgian as part of his efforts to be re-elected.
It seems he’s not the only one in Turkey eyeing a move, though, with Fanatik adding Besiktas to the mix as well.
They report that with the club top of the table and dreaming of the title and the Champions League next season, the club have already ‘rolled up their sleeves’ to create a squad worth of Europe’s top club competition.
Considering Cenk Tosun is on loan and could return to Everton, the management want to add another striker to the group, and Benteke is one of the options.
Fanatik explain that he was ‘offered to the management’, and they subsequently contacted him and evaluated a deal through intermediaries.
Indeed, talks with Benteke’s agent have already been opened, and they plan to sign him if he ‘meets the financial conditions’ at the club.
