Over the weekend, reports surfaced in England covering Newcastle United interest in Youssef En-Nesyri.
That’s no surprise, given the Sevilla attacker has been linked with a move to the Premier League in every recent transfer window. At times a transfer has seemed close, and West Ham have perhaps been the club most linked, but nothing has ever got over the line.
There’s been a response in Seville to the claims about Magpies interest. Vamos mi Sevilla report that the Spanish club will ‘request the termination clause’ should Newcastle arrive for the player.
That clause stands at €70m and seems a huge fee for the 26-year-old.
However, Sevilla feel they can demand that because of what Newcastle United paid when signing Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad last summer.
En-Nesyri has a better scoring record than Isak did in his last season for the Basque club, and therefore that’s a stance Sevilla feel they can take.
Despite that, if Newcastle arrived with something like €50m it would surely make them think.
