Watford seem to be missing out on the signing of Millonarios striker Carlos Gomez.
According to Brazilian outlet UOL, the player is being signed by Red Bull Bragantino. The clubs are said to be hiding the transfer fee for now, even though it shouldn’t take long until the local media gets to know the numbers.
However, as the Colombian version of Marca covers the news from Brazil, they do not take it for granted, pointing out a couple of clubs remains interested in the player. Watford are one of them, along with Bahia.
So the situation stays a little unclear for now, even though the Brazilian media is normally reliable when they say a transfer is done, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see that confirmed soon.
Watford’s interest in Gomez was revealed by the Colombian media last month. Local reports said the Hornets had been scouting the player, and as he stood out, they started chasing him. Despite his market value of only €1m, it had been claimed that Millonarios would try to make a ‘higher figure’ with his sale.
In case Bragantino actually completed his signing, it seems that happened without Watford even making their bid for him.
