A week ago today we covered claims from Sweden of Djurgården interest in Fulham’s Luca de la Torre.

The former San Diego Surf midfielder has a contract expiring in the summer, so his agent has been free to speak to other clubs about a free transfer when the season ends. De La Torre could move before then, and there were even suggestions last week (likely from the agent) that a move to Sweden could be sorted out by the weekend.

Djurgården confirmed interest, but made it clear they hadn’t managed to agree a deal with the Fulham player at that point.

A day after the claims originated, the agent. Lance Davids, came from his under his cover and spoke directly to Fotboll Direkt, saying: “It is true that we met Djurgården on Sunday, we had a good conversation. But we have interest from several places, including from another Championship club. We need to get a message from Djurgården soon, within the next 48 hours.”

That warning didn’t work, and the deadline came and went.

Fotboll Direkt say Djurgården remain keen, but before signing De La Torre they need to sort out some other issues, and to make sure they have room in their squad.

There’s also now a suggestion that given the 21 year old got on the bench for Fulham at the weekend, that could have some impact on a potential transfer.
