Fenerbahçe have made an announcement on their official website after reports Chelsea are targeting Simon Kjaer. After claims in the Turkish media linking the Dane to Chelsea in this window, Fenerbahçe have decided to make an official announcement.
Lots of reports in Turkish Press and European Press have linked Kjaer with a move to Chelsea this window. They have even said the deal was set to be completed for around €20m.
However, with Fenerbahçe now confirming there are were no talks with regards to Chelsea signing Kjaer this should put the rumours to the bed for now.
This month we covered reports from Turkey that Chelsea offered Fenerbahçe €14m for Kjaer, but this was rejected. There were also claims Chelsea could use Branislav Ivanvovic as part of a deal to bring in the Denmark captain.
Fenerbahçe understandably aren’t keen on selling their prized asset in January given the Turkish giants are still competing on three fronts.
