Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu has spoken to Turkish TV station TRT Spor and confirmed they will bring in Leeds United loanee Caleb Ekuban for next season.

The 25 year old is currently on loan with the Turkish club and it’s looking likely they will make his move permanent this summer.

Ekuban’s performances have helped Trabzonspor achieve their best finish to a season in seven years and Agaoglu said they are looking to keep the Ghanaian striker beyond this season. “We are relaxed about Ekuban at the moment. He will continue with us. We are not in a hurry.

“We have to focus on remaining matches. During May, we will talk about it. We are content with the players we have but we must look for financial stability.”

The Leeds United loanee recently established himself as the first choice striker at Trabzonspor, ahead of former Wigan Athletic and Fulham player Hugo Rodallega.

It’s been reported the Trabzon club’s coaching staff have been impressed with the player and they will activate his right of redemption, said to be €1m. Last week there claims the Leeds United player was close to signing a two year deal with the Super Lig club.

Ekuban has played 31 games for Trabzonspor in all competitions this season, scoring 8 goals. His Leeds United contract will expire at the end of June 2021.
