Despite multiple claims that Nicolo Zaniolo has little interest in leaving Italy, Tottenham have still made a bid for him.
Spurs’ interest in the AS Roma player is nothing new, dating back to the days when José Mourinho was in charge, and it appears to have continued its way through his successors, all the way to Antonio Conte.
Of course, it would make sense that, with an Italian manager at the helm and Fabio Paratici in charge of transfers, Serie A stars would be targets, and that’s where Zaniolo comes in.
According to Calciomercato.it journalist Maurizio Russo, AS Roma ‘have refused the offer from Tottenham of £25m + Rodon’ for the Italian playmaker.
La #Roma ha rifiutato l'offerta del #Tottenham di 25mln di sterline (circa 29mln di euro) più #Rodon per #Zaniolo @calciomercatoit

While the idea of including the centre-back in the deal may have some merit to it, it seems there might be a difference in valuation between the two sides when it comes to Zaniolo.
Roma will want as much money as possible for their star, despite him only having two years left on his contract, while Tottenham, very aware of his past serious knee injuries, will likely want to minimise the expenditure on what could be a gamble.
Either way, Spurs really do want the 23-year-old, they will have to up their offer.
