Bologna have ‘refused the offer’ made by Manchester United to sign Marko Arnautović.
That’s according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who explains the Red Devils proposed €8-9m for the 33-year-old.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag knows the forward ‘well’ from his time at FC Twente between 2006 and 2009.
It was the beginning of Arnautović’s career at the highest level, while Ten Hag worked as the assistant manager with the Eredivisie side. The Dutchman would like to reunite with the former West Ham United man at Old Trafford.
In order to fulfil their manager’s request, the Red Devils made an offer to the Serie A side for the Austria international, but it was rejected by Bologna.
Arnautović remains the fixed point of Bologna’s attack under Siniša Mihajlović. The report adds the Italian club, for the time being, are ‘resisting the pressure’ of Manchester United to take the player away from them.
Ten Hag has publicly stated he wants a new attacker in the current window. It needs to be seen whether United will return with an improved offer to sign Arnautović or look at other targets.
