Christian Eriksen has a year left on his contract at Tottenham Hotspur and several reports have repeatedly suggested he will not sign a new deal with the Champions League runners-up.

The Denmark international has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and at the end of last month, Fyens Stiftstidende claimed some Eriksen family members travelled to Madrid to find a new house for the Spurs star.

A move to the Santiago Bernabeu has not taken shape yet and it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon, if reports are to be believed.

Thursday’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS claims Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane prefers Paul Pogba of Manchester United over the 27-year-old for sporting reasons. This is something the media there repeat like a mantra.

Real Madrid recently viewed the Dane as a ‘strategic signing’, thinking they could get a good deal, but with the manager’s decision to push for a move to sign Pogba, Eriksen’s transfer has now been ‘practically ruled out’.

Sooner or later, there’s a good chance the player will either have to look at other clubs or go into reverse and sign a renewal with Tottenham.
