Tottenham Hotspur are ‘coming for’ Barcelona’s Memphis Depay, according to journalist Gerard Romero, relayed by AS.
It’s claimed Xavi Hernández’s side have ‘received a formal offer’ from Antonio Conte’s side to sign the Netherlands international in the summer.
The forward arrived at the Camp Nou as a free agent last summer and has 10 goals and two assists to his name in 19 league games this season.
Depay struggled with two different injuries since December. This, coupled with the arrivals of Ferran Torres, Adama Traoré and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January has seen him fall down the pecking order at the Catalan club.
The ex-Manchester United man’s injuries and irregularity [when he is fit] in recent months has made Barca sporting director Mateu Alemany and his trusted men ‘wonder if he is a good option to make money’ in the next window.
Barcelona’s financial situation, their need to lower their wage bill and their desire to sign ‘renowned players’ in the summer could ‘facilitate the departure’ of the Dutchman and his exit would see the Blaugrana raise a ‘significant amount’.
Tottenham are in the picture and it’s stated they have already made a proposal to sign the attacker. The report adds that at the moment, ‘there is still no answer’ on Depay.
