Barcelona have taken steps to overcome Manchester City and Real Madrid to sign Erling Haaland.

Two days ago, De Telegraaf reported Joan Laporta travelled to Monaco to hold a meeting with Mino Raiola and these claims are backed up Sunday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.

The super-agent represents the Borussia Dortmund star and the report states the Barcelona chief’s latest meeting was to take ‘another step forward’, to get ahead of the Citizens and Los Blancos in the transfer race.

Xavi Hernández’s side are ‘willing to do anything to get hold’ of the 21-year-old, despite the ‘enormous competition’ from the Premier League winners and Real Madrid.

Regarding City, the report states they have ‘forgotten about Harry Kane’ and are ‘pushing hard’ for the Norway international. Carlo Ancelotti’s side, for their part, are ‘increasing their bet’ on Haaland as there is a ‘real possibility’ of Kylian Mbappé continuing at Paris Saint-Germain.

Barca are aware that they need in excess of €100m [€75m fee plus €40m in commission] for Haaland’s transfer [excluding wages]. In order to raise these figures, the Catalan club could sacrifice some of their current players.

Another Catalan newspaper Sport states the BVB frontman ‘wants to come’ to the Camp Nou and ‘money won’t be a problem’ to carry out his signing.

When discussing suitors, Barca, Real Madrid and the English champions all get mentioned.

Regarding Pep Guardiola’s side, it’s said City ‘would welcome him with open arms’, but it’s difficult for them to carry out an operation since Haaland prefers to play in Spain rather than England.

The Dortmund star is a ‘big target’ for Barcelona and they will battle with Real Madrid for his signature.
