On November 20th, we relayed news from Italy that Juventus have identified Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips as one of their targets for the winter market.
Suspensions to Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba have forced the Serie A side to look for a new midfielder. The track leading to the Manchester City player is ‘still alive’.
That’s according to Tutto Juve, who state the Turin club would be ‘ready to offer’ the 28-year-old an opportunity to join them and relaunch his career away from Manchester City.
The England international had to settle for a limited role under Pep Guardiola since he arrived at the Etihad from Leeds United in 2022. He’s been restricted to 216 minutes of action from eight games this season.
Gareth Southgate handed him only six minutes in the last international break and there could be concerns over his place in the national team for the Euros next summer.
It’s said the Old Lady are looking to sign Phillips on loan, with them wanting Manchester City to cover most of his wages.
Although the track is ‘still alive’, Juventus would have to convince Manchester City, and the report makes no mention of whether the treble winners are willing to agree to let go of Phillips under these terms.
