HSV Hamburg are willing to extend youngster Xavier Amaechi’s loan deal at Bolton Wanderers if the League One side want it.
Amaechi joined Bolton on loan in the summer transfer window, with the German side electing to send him back to England to get regular first-team football.
He’s managed eight appearances for them in all competitions so far but is yet to really impress, with just one goal to his name.
His season has been hugely disrupted by a metatarsal fracture picked up at the beginning of the campaign, which ruled him out of Bolton’s first 16 league games and the early rounds of the EFL Trophy.
He returned midway through November and has been slowly building up his minutes since then but has only been in the starting eleven once to date.
It means his loan spell, which is set to end in January, has not been the success that either he or Hamburg would have hoped for.
BILD, though, report that Hamburg would be ‘willing to talk’ to Bolton should they want to extend that deal for another six months.
They explain that Amaechi is ‘slowly gaining momentum again’ at the League One club, and Hamburg are willing to let him carry on where he’s started for the remainder of the campaign.
Whether Bolton want to is another matter and isn’t mentioned here, but it seems if they decide they do, then their German counterparts are willing to do business once again.
