Milliyet claim Fenerbahce are to pull put of a deal for Tottenham Hotspur forward Vincent Janssen, despite reports last week the Istanbul club are closing in on the Dutchman.

Janssen has been linked with a return to Fenerbahce throughout this transfer window, but it seems their manager Philip Cocu is looking at alternatives to the Tottenham outcast.

According to Milliyet, Cocu is not convinced by Janssen even though there have been reports the former PSV coach wants to work with his compatriot.

It’s said the Turkish club are looking at other options, and yesterday we covered reports from Turkey that Leicester City forward Islam Slimani is being lined up by the Yellow Canaries.

Fenerbahce’s pursuit of Janssen could be reevaluated if they fail to bring in a forward, but it seems the Tottenham man is no longer their first choice. There have been claims in recent days the two clubs had agreed on a loan fee for the Netherlands international.

This now leaves Janssen in limbo at Tottenham with reports last week he’s not training with the first team. It could be tactics from Fener to pressure Spurs over final details, but that’s a risky game to play.
