It seems West Ham United will need a much bigger effort to get Wesley signed from Corinthians.
The Brazilian media recently reported that the Hammers offered €18m to get the winger, while his club would like to make €25m.
On Monday evening, Blog Do Macedo reported that Corinthians turned down €27m from a German club for the player.
Now journalist Jorge Nicola says that source is too close to the club president, who leaked the information and is trying to bring those numbers up in hope that clubs will offer even more.
So that may be a message for West Ham as well.
He adds the offer is from Borussia Dortmund, who said they can put €20m plus €5m in bonuses on the table, but the request is now said to be €30m.
The local media this week claimed that Corinthians president Augusto Melo is going to Europe next week. He’s set to watch the Champions League final and also sit with clubs to discuss Wesley’s transfer.
So we shall soon see whether West Ham will continue in the race or give up, since the numbers are going way over what they initially offered.
Corinthians may be pushing their luck here.
