Porto’s 2020/21 season ends today, as they face Belenenses in the Portuguese league, and that means this is the farewell match for a few players in the squad.
One of them is Marko Grujic. Loaned by Liverpool at the start of the season, the midfielder had a good spell with the Dragons and should now return to England.
As a story from newspaper Record explains his situation, it’s claimed that Porto are still hopeful they can bring him back to the club this summer.
They say Grujic isn’t part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Liverpool, and the Reds’ intention is to negotiate his sale.
However, the Anfield side continue to demand a big amount for Grujic transfer, and just like last year, there’s a possibility that no one will show up paying that price.
So Porto could have a ‘favourable scenario’ as they wait and watch the situation. The Dragons’ intention would be to sign the midfielder on a new loan, and the player himself has already shown his desire to stay.
Grujic has made 38 appearances for Porto so far, and has been having more convincing performances in the final stretch of the season. His contract with Liverpool expires in 2023.
