Despite Inter being third in Serie A, five points ahead of fourth with five games to go, there is constant talk of them changing managers at the end of the season, with Antonio Conte replacing Luciano Spalletti.

If that happens, Corriere dello Sport believe one of his first requests would be to get rid of Mauro Icardi and sign Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United in his stead.

And, if the Italian newspaper are to be believed, Inter would be ready to ‘do the impossible’ to please their new manager by granting him his wish.

You have to understand this is, for the time being, speculation at its finest, since Conte isn’t anywhere near taking over from Spalletti, as Inter are still thinking it over, aware that overseeing a managerial change would cost them a lot of money.

We’ll entertain it nonetheless for now.

The main problem is that of offloading Icardi, who hasn’t exactly made the sweetest name for himself off the pitch this season.

As they put it, the easiest solution for everyone would be a swap between the two clubs, with Lukaku ending up at Inter and the Argentine at Old Trafford, but even Corriere believe that’s the longest of shots.

Firstly, the last thing Manchester United need in the middle of a rebuilding process is a player like Icardi, capable of splitting a dressing room in half with a simple finger snap.

Secondly, there are no guarantees the former Sampdoria striker will want to leave Italy, where he is comfortably settled with his wife and kids.

Instead, Manchester United are said to be reportedly looking at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic.

All in all, if you see Lukaku to Inter in the next few days (or Icardi to Manchester United), there doesn’t appear to be anything that concrete behind it for now.

If Antonio Conte does end up taking over, however…
