AC Milan are ready to finalise a deal for Liverpool striker Divock Origi having decided to ‘speed up their search’ for a new striker.

That’s according to journalist Nicolo Ceccarini, who say Milan duo Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are ‘very close’ to finalising negotiations with the Liverpool man.

Origi is set to be out of contract at Anfield in the summer, with the club and player electing to go their separate ways rather than sign a new deal.

Milan have been thrown to the front of the queue for his signature, with reports over the last week indicating they believe Origi fits their needs perfectly and is seen as an ideal signing on a number of levels, particularly because he is free.

Those reports have steadily been indicating that they are close to a deal, and Ceccarini pushes that further forwards again today.

He says Milan have decided to speed up their search for a striker, and that has pushed them to ‘close the deal’ with Origi.

That is something they are ‘very close’ to doing, and the negotiations between the Rossoneri and the player’s entourage is ‘in the details’.

He explains that they have not yet ‘reached the definition’ of a final deal, but there is a mutual will for that to happen and ‘there is great confidence’ it will happen sooner rather than later.

Origi is set to earn around €4m a year in the deal being proposed, with Milan looking extremely likely to be his next destination when he leaves Liverpool this summer.
