For the past few weeks, reports coming out of France have insisted Morgan Sanson is looking to leave Aston Villa in the winter market.
The midfielder didn’t enjoy minutes under Steven Gerrard and the situation didn’t improve after Unai Emery’s arrival at the club earlier this season. He came off the bench in Aston Villa’s league win over Manchester City and started in their FA Cup defeat to Stevenage.
Last Friday, L’Equipe explained the former Marseille man’s priority is to return to Ligue 1 and his camp have made contact with several clubs, including FC Nantes.
Media Foot also echo the Frenchman’s desire to return to his country this month and add that he aspires to find a more competitive challenge in Ligue 1. Nantes are the only club mentioned and they are prioritising tsigning him in the current window.
It’s claimed Sanson ‘ticks all the boxes’ for the profile of the midfielder the French club are looking for in the market. Therefore, Nantes are ‘ready to do anything’ to take the player away from Aston Villa in January.
Media Foot don’t make it clear whether Nantes want to sign Sanson on a loan or permanent transfer.
