Olivier Giroud has turned down Chelsea’s last offer to renew his contract, according to reports from the Italian media on Tuesday.
Newspaper Tuttosport says it’s been a ‘hot week’ for the striker, since there have been new contacts between his entourage and the Blues.
It’s claimed that the Stamford Bridge side have tried to extend his deal, which expires next summer, with an offer of adding one more year to it.
But the Frenchman said no, as he plans to leave the club for free at the end of the season, leaving a clear path for Inter Milan to sign him.
Tuttosport writes that Antonio Conte is waiting for him ‘with open arms’ at the Nerazzurri, who are working hard to find a player who can be a backup option for Romelu Lukaku.
Inter Milan are now expected to offer Olivier Giroud a two-year contract, a similar deal which they’re putting on the table to Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen.
