West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers have been credited with interest in Corinthians star Yuri Alberto.

In the winter market, several claims from the Brazilian media discussed the Hammers and Wolves’ desire to sign the striker, but the transfer didn’t take shape.

Earlier this week, Alberto’s agent André Cury told Globo Esporte his client had offers from both West Ham and Wolves.

ESPN in Brazil have a report on how Corinthians’ ‘reacted’ to the representative’s claim of offers from Europe.

In another interview with UOL, the agent stated he took an offer of R$ 186m [€29.1m] to the 24-year-old.

According to ESPN, the Brazilian club were ‘not at all happy’ with Cury’s claims of offers because they didn’t receive any proposal for the frontman.

Even if they had received a R$ 186m offer, they wouldn’t have entertained it as his former club, Zenit Saint Petersburg, have a 50% sell-on clause. This wouldn’t have allowed them to invest on signing Alberto’s replacement.

Corinthians are only aware of only one proposal that Cury brought to them. It was from an English club to sign Alberto on loan, with the Brazilian club covering part of his salary.

They see the agent’s latest comments, which includes those about West Ham and Wolves, as an ‘attempt to disrupt’ the atmosphere at Corinthians ahead of the next window.
