It was last week that Tottenham Hotspur were said to be interested in the signing of Palmeiras left-back Joaquin Piquerez.
Reports from the French media claimed that Spurs, along with Marseille, both ‘appreciate’ the player, with no further information on how advanced talks are.
It turns out that following up that information, Globo Esporte then published a story regarding the interest in Piquerez coming from European sides.
Not naming Tottenham, the outlet wrote that the player is wanted by Marseille and clubs from England and Germany.
The report claims there are still no talks with Palmeiras for the move and makes it clear that in case any bids are made, the negotiations ‘shouldn’t be the easiest’.
Piquerez has a contract with the Brazilian club until 2025, and that’s the main reason why they feel ‘safe’ about the situation.
With his value going up, the Verdão are even thinking of giving him another contract.
Piquerez is valued by Transfermarkt at only €3m, but it seems that if Tottenham really want him, they’ll need to put a lot more than that on the table.
