Unable to find regular game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Jesse Lingard has continued to struggle for minutes with Ralf Rangnick in charge.

The Warrington born footballer has been at Manchester United since 2000, and yet this could be his final season at Old Trafford, with a move away expected either in January or in the summer.

A few Premier League teams have reportedly knocked on the door to see if he was available, as did OGC Nice in Ligue 1, and yet the England international will not be heading to the south of France.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who explain that while the French club ‘studied the feasibility of the deal’, they ultimately decided to ‘not go any further’ after being faced with a ‘complex financial equation’.

It’s then added that Manchester United asked for €2.5m to buy out the remaining months of their forward’s contract, and the player had a yearly wage of ‘over €5m’.

These amounts were ‘too important’ for Nice and, ‘barring a reversal of the situation’, the player’s future, at least in the short-term ‘should be in England’.
