According to TrtSpor Besiktas journalist Fırat Gunayer, the Turkish club have pulled out of the race to sign Leicester City striker Islam Slimani.
Gunayer says Besiktas were interested in bringing the Algerian international to the Vodafone Park, but Leicester City officials have insisted they’ll only sell the player on a permanent deal.
Despite selling Cenk Tosun to Everton for a club record fee, Besiktas don’t want to splash all the cash directly on Slimani, and the Turkish champions are now looking to bring in a cheaper option.
The Turkish club have been linked with a move for fellow Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, and the Nigerian’s transfer seems more likely than Slimani’s at the moment.
Slimani’s former club Sporting Lisbon have also shown an interest in the player and it remains to be seen where his next destination will be.
The Algeria international could be surplus to requirements at Leicester City, despite having a good scoring record for the minutes he’s played.
