We’ve always been a bit skeptical about all the Mauro Icardi to Arsenal rumours in the Italian press despite their insistence that contract offers were made and whatnot.
With Gonzalo Higuain (probably) on his way to Juventus, Napoli are going to have to replace the goalscoring Argentinean and who better than his compatriot who plays for Inter Milan.
It seems the former Real Madrid star’s departure could start a domino effect of striker transfers around Serie A, and Napoli are, according to Corriere dello Sport, pulling out all the stops to get their man.
The Italian newspaper report Aurelio De Laurentiis and Napoli are ready to offer the 23-year-old a five-year contract worth €5m/year with a release clause of somewhere between €90-100m, 50% of his image rights, a clothing line, and, to top it all off, a role for Wanda Nara in one of the next De Laurentiis films.
Yep, Aurelio de Laurentiis is a film producer through his father’s company, Filmauro, who specialises in Italian films, as well as owning Napoli through said company.
It’s quite the offer, one Arsenal might struggle competing with, if they were ever interested in the first place.
Unless they start their own film producing company, that is.
Wenger Films, anyone?
