Last weekend, a report in the English press stated Manchester United are keeping tabs on AC Milan star Rafael Leão.
The Reds Devils looking at the forward is mentioned in the Italian media, when they give an update on his future. His contract expires in 2024.
Milan have repeatedly stressed they want to tie him down to a new contract, with the likes of Manchester United and other top clubs in the mix.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who explain the Portugal international’s father and the French lawyer will be key figures during the renewal negotiations. The latter held a meeting with the Serie A winners’ leaders at the club’s headquarters yesterday.
Milan are under pressure because the most important clubs are in the background for the ex-Lille man. Manchester United are tagged as the report explains Erik ten Hag’s side and two other clubs are ‘there to control the situation’ of Leão.
The attacker’s release clause is another issue to be resolved. His current clause is set at €150m, which is high for some of his suitors.
The Italian champions will have more meetings with Leão’s camp as they want to sort out his renewal as soon as possible. If they fail to find an agreement, Calciomercato.it state the Rossoneri ‘cannot sell him for less than’ €100m.
Sky Italia also echo Calciomercato.it’s claim as they say Manchester United are one of the clubs that have courted the player.
