Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt gave a press conference on Thursday, speaking of the plans the club have for the 2020 season.

The Rio de Janeiro side are working hard to keep two players who’ve been on loan this season: Caio Henrique from Atletico Madrid and Allan from Liverpool.

Bittencourt has made it clear Fluminense are interested in keeping both of them, and says there have been contacts with the Spanish and English sides.

“I’ve sent eight or nine statements to both clubs saying I’m still interested in the players. The salary proposals have already been made to the players and both accepted, but I depend on Atletico and Liverpool,’ said Bittencourt (via Globo Esporte).

“In Allan’s case the situation is a bit more accessible. Liverpool show no interest in renewing the loan, just in selling the athlete, but we have started talking some formula within the possibilities of Fluminense.”

Despite spending the past few months fighting against relegation, Allan managed to have a good season for Fluminense. That’s why he’s been linked to the likes of Flamengo and São Paulo lately.

If Liverpool don’t want to extend his loan deal, that’s probably because they don’t plan to give him a new contract, since his current one expires next summer. So the Reds will probably work to sell Allan now so they don’t lose him for free in six months.
