The Portuguese press has had stories about Sporting’s chase for Islam Slimani the entire week, all saying how hard it will be to sign the player back from Leicester City.
Today, it’s Record who has a short article about the situation, describing the deal as ‘very complicated’.
This time, they bring new information claiming that the intention of the Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho was to get the signing done before Saturday.
The reason for that is because the club have a general meeting scheduled, and to soften the situation of the many players rescinding the contracts with the Lions, Carvalho would use the occasion to announce Slimani’s return.
Record claims that Slimani is keen on leaving Leicester City, but the problem for Sporting is to convince the Foxes in a possible negotiation. The Premier League side spent €30m to sign him and obviously won’t just give him away.
The offer Slimani has from Chinese side Hebei Fortune is also a concern, because even though playing in Asia isn’t attractive for him, the financial conditions would be convincing.
