Boca Juniors are still pretty hurt by the transfer of Alexis Mac Allister, and don’t even try to hide it.

The La Bombonera side have made it clear that besides having Brighton trying to cut short the midfielder’s loan spell, the player has also made clear his wish to move in January.

That’s why club president Jorge Amor Ameal has been going public to criticise Mac Allister, repeatedly claiming that it was him who pushed for the exit.

Speaking to Futbol 910 (via Bola Vip), the Boca Juniors president said: “You can’t give Boca’s shirt to a player if they don’t have a purchase option. Boca’s shirt is very important. You have to understand that the boy wanted to leave. The boy signed a paper that said he wanted to leave.”

He also tried to stand by the fanbase by quoting one of the Boca Juniors supporters: “I’m going to tell you what a Boca fan told me and I share: He who doesn’t want to play for Boca, has to go. Our shirt has to be respected. You can’t keep anyone who doesn’t want to be here”

What hurt Boca Juniors even more is the fact that after leaving the club, Mac Allister played the Pre-Olympic tournament for Argentina, and turned out to be the team’s best player. So the Buenos Aires side really felt like they could do with him for six more months.

With the tournament coming to an end last week, the 21-year-old is not free to make his debut for the Seagulls.
