If the latest articles from around Europe are to be believed, Chelsea’s Bertrand Traoré is going to be one of the most sought after youngsters in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old has been impressing immensely on loan at Ajax, and with few hopes of consistent first-team football at Stamford Bridge next season, he could very well look elsewhere.
Chelsea’s tactic has always been to loan him out, yet that can only be done so many times before a player seeks stability in order to progress adequately in an environment he can turn into his home.
Everton and Stoke have been touted as potential destinations for the Burkina Faso international, yet, having played European football throughout this campaign with Ajax, the youngster could seek more of the same next year.
And, if Corriere dello Sport are correct, Napoli could be the club that gives him that opportunity.
The Italian newspaper explain the Serie A side are looking for wingers in order to provide the likes of Insigne, Callejon and Mertens adequate backup and a chance of a rest, and Traoré is one Aurelio de Laurentiis would ‘gladly go after’.
L’Equipe on Thursday explained negotiations with Chelsea would have to start at around €10m, yet considering the player’s current ability and margin for improvement, that figure could end up being doubled.
Whether Napoli want to spend €20m on a backup remains to be seen, but Traoré certainly appears to be an option for them, and the forward could end up with a lot of choice in the coming weeks.
