Galatasaray are eyeing up a move for Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke when his contract expires in the summer.
That’s according to Fanatik, who say the Belgian forward is a target for Mustafa Cengiz as part of his re-election campaign at the club.
Benteke has found some of his old form this season, with five goals and one assist in 22 league game helping him demonstrate flashes of his former self.
Those goals have not convinced Crystal Palace to push hard for a new deal, though, and at the moment, it appears the 30-year-old will be on his way out of the club when his contract expires in the summer.
There is plenty of time left for that to change, but one side looking to take advantage are Galatasaray, who ‘want to sign’ Benteke when his contract with Crystal Palace expires.
Fanatik say the striker is being eyed up by president Cengiz, who wants to get the deal over the line before the presidential elections, which were delayed back in December.
They state the Super Lig club were also interested in the January transfer window, but Benteke was ‘not keen’ on a move to Turkey, so turned it down.
Whether his stance has changed since then remains to be seen, with Galatasaray certainly happy to try their luck once more should he leave Crystal Palace this summer.
