Santos and Chelsea have been appearing together in many reports recently. First the Blues were linked to Gabigol, then to Thiago Maia and Daniel Guedes. This week, even a partnership between the clubs was said to be under negotiation.
The information that the Brazilian club president Modesto Roma visited Chelsea last week was widely reportedly in Brazil, although it wasn’t official. But now, talking to Esporte Interativo, Roma finally confirmed the trip. When asked about the situation of Thiago Maia, the club representative said:
“Santos have no interest in selling any player. If they send bids, we’ll analyse. The news which is out is that Chelsea would have interest [in Thiago Maia]”.
“I’ve been with Chelsea last week, talking about a lot of things, but we didn’t talk about Thiago Maia.
“The matter is always to show up good offers. Officially, we’ve only received the offers from Juventus and Internazionale for Gabriel, that’s all. They were the only two. The rest is cheap talk.”
Many outlets in Brazil say Santos need to sell at least one player before the end of the transfer window. And with the Olympics ending this weekend, things should advance more quickly in these last few days.
