The story of Hirving Lozano to Manchester United was quite interesting during the summer, even though the transfer never happened.
First rumours of his father-in-law saying he was moving to England showed up, then his father confirmed the interest, and even the player talked about it.
But after Pachuca president Jesus Martinez ruled the whole thing out, things went a little quiet.
Until now.
The president himself has just reignited the rumour. In an interview with Fox Sports (via Goal), Martinez claimed Manchester United have been following the 21 year old for quite a while.
“I talked to him, I talked with his representatives and they came to deliver this offer from Spain.
“In order to clarify, he’s not going away right now because of the family situation. All of us in the board think that if he goes to Spanish or English football, he can develop better. He’s been been followed by Manchester United for three years ”
“PSV let us know via telephone, just like Benfica, we are also looking for something more serious because of the issue of the intermediates. There was something concrete from Spain, so we will sit in six months.”
Lozano has 15 goals and 6 assists in 21 games for Pachuca this season. These are statistics which certainly aren’t being ignored in Europe.
But whether Manchester United are really interested, well, that’s a complete different story. The club have scouts following the development of players all over the world, but very few of them end up getting an offer.
It’s also worth mentioning that Manchester United’s management has changed a few times in the past three years, so keeping an eye on a player for so long wouldn’t mean much in this case.
