Earlier on Monday, reports from Spain claimed Nolito has said yes on a move from Manchester City to La Liga side Sevilla.
The news had been reported by Cope and Mundo Deportivo, and a few hours later the Sevilla president José Castro has spoken to the local press and confirmed that the negotiations are well advanced.
Trying to hold his horses before announcing a deal, the club official is quoted by Estadio Deportivo as saying: “It’s true that when we talk about top players we can’t say that things are done, but Nolito has got closer to Sevilla in the past days.”
Despite Nolito’s ‘yes’ to the Spanish side, Cope claimed the clubs still need to sort out a deal, especially because it’s still not decided whether he’ll move on a loan or a permanent transfer.
Nolito only had one season to prove himself at Manchester City, as he was signed from Celta de Vigo last summer. With only six goals and five assists in this period, it seems it wasn’t enough to convince Pep Guardiola he deserves more chances at the club.
