In the past few days, several reports from Argentina have been making it very clear that Brighton & Hove Albion are close to signing Facundo Buonanotte from Rosario Central.
Even his agent spoke about the subject, claiming a transfer to the Premier League is a ‘dream’ for any South American wonderkid, making it clear the negotiations are advanced.
It turns out that not everyone at Rosario Central like the idea of losing such a young player.
So interviewed by Zapping Sport, club presidency candidate Gonzalo Belloso revealed that he’s trying to stop the move to Brighton.
“I think it’s a shame that Central has to sell a 17-year-old player,” said Belloso (via Info Canalla 1889).
“I talked to Buonanotte’s representative so that he stays for two more years.”
Despite being currently 17, Buonanotte turns 18 in December, which means he could join Brighton by the January transfer window.
Recent reports from Argentina have been saying the Seagulls offer €6m for the transfer, and that amount could be doubled in case performance bonuses are triggered.
Brighton have been investing heavily in South America lately, and following the success of players such as Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, it’s no wonder they’ll continue to look for young talents in the continent.
