Manchester City midfielder Claudio Gomes is reportedly on his way to Serie B.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio writes that the player is about to join Palermo, who are ‘preparing to welcome him’ in their squad.
It’s said the Frenchman has already signed a two-year contract with the club, and even though that isn’t made clear, there’s a good chance that’s a long-term loan deal.
Gomes has already been involved in other temporary spells since joining Manchester City on a free move from Paris Saint Germain’s academy back in 2018.
In 2019, he was sent to Dutch side PSV, and despite spending an year at the Etihad in the 2020/21 season, he was then loaned to Championship side Barnsley, where he made 35 appearances.
This season, Pep Guardiola even took Gomes to the bench in a couple of Premier League games, as he was in the squad sheet in the wins against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
However, since it’s very unlikely he’d get many minutes at Manchester City, he’s now been sent to Palermo, who are now also part of the City Group.
