Chelsea should soon receive an official bid from Borussia Dortmund for the permanent transfer of Ian Maatsen, the German media says.
The 22-year-old, who has had a short spell at the Bundesliga side, seems to have convinced them that he’s worth an investment for the purchase.
Sky Deutschland reporter Patrick Berger writes that Borussia Dortmund are currently ‘preparing’ their bid, and they have the Chelsea player as a ‘priority’ for the summer window.
The Signal Iduna Park side are believed to have a big advantage over any other competitor, as Maatsen only wants to join them.
Dortmund and Chelsea are said to be in initial talks right now, with the German side trying to bring down the price of his €35m release clause.
Maatsen still has a contract with the Blues running until 2026, but the only reason he’s now valued by Transfermarkt at €30m is his good spell at Dortmund.
The fullback made 22 appearances for the German club in this final part of the season, and could help make history if they beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
