Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is clearly not a fan of Gareth Bale and the La Liga winners have been trying to offload the forward to lower their wage bill.
The Welshman earns a net salary of €15m per season, and Los Blancos are hoping that Manchester United will try to sign him this summer.
It’s been evident for months that Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho is a priority target for the Red Devils this summer.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side aren’t close to a deal, and that could see them look at other options. Reports in England have mentioned Bale as one of the alternatives to Sancho.
Sport now state the Madrid leaders hope United will ‘bet’ on Bale, if they decide to give up on Sancho.
The Spanish giants’ ‘last hope’ is for the former Tottenham star to return to the Premier League, and ‘for that reason they are praying’ United will make an effort to acquire his services.
The possible option would be for the Manchester club to sign the Wales international on a season-long loan deal.
Bale recently admitted he would be open to the idea of returning to England, and his comments have brought joy to Zidane and Florentino Pérez. This has been the ‘determining factor’ that could help Real Madrid offload him.
Sport then adds the player is aware it’ll be ‘hell’ if he decides to continue at the Santiago Bernabéu, but he doesn’t want to give up his annual salary of €15m for the next two seasons.
Should there be no agreement between Real Madrid and Bale, Zidane’s side would then consider paying part of his salary to get rid of Bale ‘once and for all’.
Sport’s headline reads ‘Real Madrid pray to ‘San United’ to sign Bale’, which makes the desperation clear.
