Ajax and midfielder Edson Álvarez are waiting for West Ham United to make their move for him this summer.
That’s according to Algemeen Dagblad, who say the road is open for the Hammers to get a deal done after Borussia Dortmund decided to ‘drop out’ of the race.
The newspaper reports that Álvarez ‘hopes to have played his last game’ for Ajax and is determined to move on from the Dutch club this summer if he can.
He had been eyeing a move to Borussia Dortmund and a deal had seemed likely, although they have now dropped out of the race for his signature. That’s also been reported widely in Germany.
Thus, he and Ajax are now waiting for other clubs to ‘take action’, with West Ham named specifically as the one they have their eyes on.
They’re going to be in the market for a new midfielder very soon once Declan Rice completes his big money move to Arsenal.
Not only will David Moyes need a replacement, but he’ll also have the funds to source one and it seems Álvarez and Ajax are waiting for him and West Ham to make their move.
