With things moving very quickly, it seems Norwich City are now very close to completing the signing of Gabriel Sara from São Paulo.
A new report from Globo Esporte says the Brazilian club and player have both accepted the offer from the Canaries. It’s claimed the deal should be ‘sealed in the coming days’, depending only on bureaucratic details, likely related to a work permit, and medical tests.
The story claims West Bromwich Albion also tried to sign the player, but it’s really Norwich who are now winning the race for a deal worth €11m.
The Canaries’ hunt for the player was initially reported on Wednesday, and things have moved quite fast. On Thursday morning, Goal Brasil was already reporting that São Paulo were working to close the deal, and the player was waiting to complete the transfer.
None of the stories, however, mentioned how Norwich beat West Brom in the race. The articles have also been a little different regarding the price for the transfer, although this is the second piece we see mentioning a fee of €11m.
Globo Esporte recalls that due to ankle surgery, Sara would only be able to play for the Canaries in August.
